- I have raised two children through the "wonderful two's", and I know what a surprise it can be when your usually compliant child turns into something else. It may be frustrating at times, but what an utterly marvelous time in the life of your child. Around a year old a child will begin to test a few boundaries. This will progress over the next 18 months to two years. The typical two-and-a-half year old:
- - Is strongly possessive of loved ones and toys.
- -Speaks in a loud urgent voice
- -May become demanding and dictorial
- -Has difficulty with transitions and changes in routine
However, all of these characteristics are signs that your child is gaining independence and an understanding of who he is. Remember to be patient yet firm with your child as they test those boundaries. In the end, you will see what a "Marvelous Me" she can be!
